Does Size Matter for Wallets in Purses?
Allett Wallets makes wallets for both men and women. *All* of our wallets are designed to be ultra slim. For men, the benefits of this are more obvious. A slim wallet in the pocket looks more attractive and offers more comfort. For women that have pants with pockets (a rare sight indeed!), wallets essentially have to be slim to fit the minimal space that these pockets typically provide.
Still, some women still carry purses and handbags and many have pants without pockets. If you’re placing a wallet in one of these handbags, does the size of your wallet matter anymore? Is there a reason to get a slim wallet if it’s just going to go into a purse?
Yes - A Slim Wallet Still Helps
Short answer is that yes, a slim wallet is a good idea for purses. One of the reasons this question arises is because many people own luxury designer purses, and then follow that up with a matching luxury wallet. Yet many of these wallets are massive. They take up so much space that they would never fit in a pocket at all.
Still, they do fit inside of a purse, and most people buy them for the brand. It’s easy to ignore the size when your goal is ownership of a luxury item. Yet, we still often recommend that you consider forgoing the large sized wallet and considering a small, ideally ultra slim wallet instead. This is because this type of wallet will have many, many benefits, including:
- All Size Purses – Slim wallets will fit any size purse or handbag, no matter how small. You will not need to worry about whether you have to switch wallets in order to fit it in the smaller sized bags.
- Fits in Pockets – Many purses and handbags have small pockets inside that do not usually fit large wallets, but can definitely fit small ones. Putting your wallet into one of these small internal pockets is safer, keeps it out of the way of other items you’re carrying, and makes it easier to find.
- Harder to Steal – Similarly, many thieves steal wallets directly from purses, especially if they are left open. It is a very common mode of theft. It typically takes place in seconds, where a hand goes into the purse, grabs the wallet, and leaves. With a smaller wallet, that is much harder to do, as a person would have to take the time to find the wallet and increase the odds of them being caught.
- Lighter – Carrying a purse all day can be demanding on the body. Slim wallets are also lighter to carry, reducing the weight that you have on you throughout the day.
- More Space for Stuff – Chances are you carry a lot of items in your purse. The more items you carry, the harder they can be to access and the less space you have for other things. Smaller wallets are one way to make sure that space is less of a problem.
- You Can Leave Your Purse it the Car – Imagine you are going somewhere and unable to carry your purse. If you do have pockets in your pants (or you’re with someone that does), you can take your wallet out and leave the purse in your car with ease. With a large wallet, you have to carry the purse or the wallet at all times.
Slim wallets are also easier to hold and manage (most people have to rest their large wallets on a flat surface just to access what’s inside) and they are versatile, so you can use the wallet without a purse in the future without requiring moving everything into another wallet.
Slim Wallets – Better for Everything
Ultra slim and thin wallets are simply more versatile, even in purses. They can also be just as luxury. Our leather wallets, for example, are designed with the same Nappa leather as many high end luxury designers, so they feel great in the hand and last for years. But they are not designed to be large or bulky – they are designed to be slim enough to fit in a front pocket, and still a perfect fit for any purse.
